CHARACTER NAME: Caesar Zeppeli
CANON: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
TIMELINE: post-death
AGE: 20
REFERENCE: spicy
PERSONALITY:
There's a fine line between how Caesar thinks he conducts himself and how he truly acts.
He has an excessive amount of pride-pride in his family name, his duty, his country and his appearance. The hatred he felt towards his father for abandoning him and his siblings went 1000 mph the opposite direction once he realized Mario's true intentions. He went from shunning his family name, to picking it up with gusto. He picked up where his father left off without a second though, almost completely shunning the 6 years of grief and anger he felt to the back of his mind. He buried that past deep in his heart and his sole focus became to destroy the pillar men.
And he has the strength to back it up, both mentally and physically. His rough upbringing forced him into delinquency, and he wasted no time in taking back from the world that took everything from him, unleashing his anger on anyone who stepped in his way. The local mafias feared him, and he was known for violently bashing in heads with wrenches. He never killed anyone-his honor wouldn't allow it, but he teetered on the edge of becoming a killer with every interaction. He can defend himself in a fight with the confidence and experience to back it up.
Hamon training with Lisa Lisa was another story. Learning to focus energy in lieu of violent, explosive anger was a task for him, but he managed to do it. His desire to destroy the pillar men helped hone his mental technique and while he's not a master, he's been a student for four years under an intense coach. He's got the mental fortitude and patience to persevere, even when it acts against his nature. During their time together, he came to respect her greatly for her skill and training technique-he remarks that he respects her as much as his own mother.
He's always been kind by nature, but his training and a renowned sense of purpose allowed him to thrive as that person again. Despite his sometimes uninterested attitude, he does care a great deal for the people he truly likes. One of his teacher’s comments that "you're not so good at making friends yourself, but when you do it’s true love, isn’t it?" And that's 1000% how Caesar is. Casual, flirty relationships are one thing. The loyalty he has towards a select few is another. He keeps most people at a distance, likely due to the trust issues he had growing up, but for those he adores, they mean everything to him. Which isn't to say he's mean-he's kind, cordial and acts pleasantly around people who don't irritate him.
A side character named Mark dies at the beginning of part 2-someone Caesar was friends with and his grief immediately sent him after the pillar men without any regard for himself. Even when he thinks he may lose an eye, he keeps trying to fight until he can't move anymore to honor his friend's memory.
His biggest relationship in the series is with the titular Jojo of Part 2-Joseph Joestar. Caesar hates him at first sight. Loathes him. Thinks he's nothing short of worthless, but they quickly grow to be close friends during their training with Lisa Lisa. Avenging his family was his priority when fighting Wamuu, but Caesar's final thought is Joseph. He manages to get the antidote from pillar man and traps it in a blood bubble, passing on the last of hamon to Joseph before he dies.
Their friendship likely stems from their similarities-something Caesar would deny. He gets angry at Jojo for acting a certain way, only to immediately mimic the action himself. When Jojo provokes him, he gets snappy, but wastes no time to taunting the guy in return. During their card game, Caesar calls him out for cheating, only to be caught for doing the same by Jojo not even two seconds later. They're frequently on the same wavelength, with Caesar able to predict JoJo’s "stupid ideas" with a scary amount of accuracy. When Jojo uses icicles to ladder his way back up a mountain, Caesar is immediately there to help him create it.
For all his progress, he's still an incredibly emotional and hot-headed guy. He's easily provoked by friends and foes alike and certain trigger words can rile him up in record time. When that happens, he acts first and thinks later. The huge fight between him and Jojo is what spurs him into the Pillar men's trap and consequently, he gets killed.
ABILITIES: Caesar specific & General hamon
The short and sweet version of this bullshit power, if you don't want to read through 10000 wiki words about hamon, is that it's essentially a person's ability to breathe SO damn good that they're able to make some spicy energy in their body that can help/hurt others. It's the same energy that emits off the sun and it's super useful against vampires. Make sense?? Of course not. But that's where we are.
Because of his training, Caesar has a higher endurance than an average human. He's basically a beefy tank. He can long periods without food, water, and can take a hell of a beating.
Sticking ripple - Can channel hamon to parts of his body to stick to things. Notably does this on the oil pillar where he climbs up using his fingertips.
Repelling ripple - Can channel hamon to repel stuff in a person's body. Notably does this when Suzie is possessed by a creature. They repel it out of her.
Hypnosis - Can channel hamon to hypnotize a person through a kiss.
Healing - While he never does this on screen, most hamon users seem to have this ability. It can heal surface level wounds.
Bubble Launcher - Human version of a pokemon's bubble beam. Literally launches a barrage of super-powered bubbles at a person.
Bubble Barrier - Creates a single bubble that can absorb and trap a person.
Bubble Cutter - The Bubble Launcher but better. These are sharp bubbles that spin and slice.
Bubble Cutter Gliding - Bubble Cutter lite. Less sharp bubbles, but they're easier to control and aim.
Bubble Lenses - Multiple bubbles that absorb and reflect light, transforming them into wild laser-esque beams. They can connect together and create a super powered beam.
PERSONAL EFFECTS: Box of cigarettes and lighter.
PRIZED POSSESSION: A photo of his family.
