he has no real grand reason for wanting to meet with caesar. nanami is usually a person that only meets with someone else because there is some greater purpose or reason behind it, but he thinks that he will attempt to change that part of himself.

it may be because he knows that once he returns to his own world, time will start to flow, again. the events that happen in this place may not even come to matter. so, if that is the case, he should do a few more things that he wanted to do for himself.

like drink with friends. like listen more to their stories.

he has no regrets for how he has lived, and so, this is purely for his own indulgence.

so he waits at the bar to have a drink with someone he has come to like. ]

[It's not an unwelcome surprise to hear from this man-someone who gets that the irritants of the world are plenty and sometimes a good drink is enough to drown it out. Temporarily.

Picking out the mop of blond hair from the small crowd that's taking refuge in this bar isn't difficult-it takes only another second for him to the settle into the empty seat beside him. It's still early-quiet and serene enough around them. The bar is a jewel in this shitty city.

It doesn't hurt that the bartender is incredibly attractive too.]

You seem the type to appreciate the atmosphere.

[He wouldn't recommend this place to just anyone. There's no sense in ruining his secret hideout for some rando, but for his lack of knowledge about this person, the little he knows from their first meeting is enough. First impressions are everything-that's a law he's abided by for many years.

He isn't a dick. Isn't annoying or irritating at first or even second glance. ]

If you're partial to recommendations, you should drink a glass of red wine before you leave. It's nothing like Italian wine, but it's good enough.

[ Nanami feels like he could get into a discussion about how there is a right atmosphere for every type and time to drink. If certain "points" are not met, it makes the overall experience lacking in every possible way. A person may not fully comprehend the reasons why, but they will not be able to do much to "improve" their mood beyond drinking more -- and that can be a dangerous thing to do.

But he holds back on some of it. ]

I normally am not, but I am willing to take your recommendation. You've already chosen a wonderful place that suits all the needs and wants necessary to enjoy a drink. [ He makes a gesture with his hand to indicate that he's prepared to order and does, indeed, order the red wine suggested by his, hm, bar friend. Really, calling him a "drinking buddy" doesn't quite sound right. ]

[A drink's a drink and Nanami's decision to invite him along doesn't change that simple fact. It gets him out of the apartment too-another benefit.]

But I assume you've had an irritating day to want to end it at bar side.

Irritating is one way of putting it.

There are people that are important to me, and I find I am unable to watch over them. But at the same time, if I look after them as I like, I may take away their autonomy. [ He heard some unfortunate news about the future. ] What I have decided to do is trust in them and their abilities.

I believe a conclusion for them will be a satisfying one... but I can't say it will be a happy one. That is all.

[That's a poignant observation-a level of trust in that answer that stems from the tiny bursts of alcohol between his lips. Something that loosens the tongue.]

If they're of sound heart and mind, they'll do well enough on their own. Everyone must learn to walk their own path eventually.
